The 2014/2015 Committee
Mihir is a second year engineer at Sidney Sussex College currently deciding whether to specialise in Information and Computer engineering or Electrical engineering.
He was the presentations officer last year, organising company presentations from all different engineering disciplines.
As President, Mihir hopes to build on the excellent work done by the previous committees as well as to diversify the ways in which students interact with sponsors and to strengthen contact with the engineering department's alumni.
In his free time, Mihir enjoys playing and following football, cricket and tennis.
Helen is a second year engineer from Sidney Sussex interested in Mechanical Engineering and Information Engineering.
As Vice-President she hopes to maintain good relations with the sponsors and looks to make more connections with CU societies.
Laura is a first year engineer at St John's with interests in structural engineering and environmentally friendly technology.
As secretary, she hopes to be efficient in dealing with the general admin for the team and be quick at replying to any requests from the society in response to the weekly bulletins.
Kai Yu Tan
Kai is a third year engineer at Jesus College, with strong interests in Fluids and Mechanics. She was the Events Officer last year and looks forward to working with the current committee to streamline the payment process for various CUES activities.
As junior treasurer, she deals with all the financial transactions of the society.
Peter is a second year engineer at Sidney Sussex with an interest in specialising in Electronic and Software engineering, he has a strong background in software development - specifically focused around web services.
As webmaster he hopes to build an easy and versatile system that will last for many years to come as well as supporting other members of the committee whenever required.
Faizan is a second year engineer at Christ's College.
As publicity officer, alongside Miles, he is looking forward to publicising all CUES events, particularly focusing on social media distribution and to ensure maximum attendance at all events throughout the year. Miles is a second year Engineer from Emmanuel College with an interest in software, systems and control.
As part of the Publicity Team, alongside Faizan, he hopes to further the presence of the Society around the University through the social media pages; and to try and introduce more interaction for the all those who wish to be involved in the events. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, so don't hesitate to get in touch.
Third Year Structural Engineer at Girton College
As events officer, alongside Milad, we will work to create a truly inspiring careers fair so that everyone can get really great summer placements and graduate jobs. I am also really keen to continue the good work that the events officers in the past have been doing to organise lots of visits to see 'engineering in action'. So watch the bulletins for our exciting line up of factory and site visits.
Milad Mehrabanifard is a first year engineer at Christ's College.
As events officer, Alongside Isabel, he is planning to organise CUES careers fair which is the largest student run fair in Cambridge and also various events such as trips to engineering-related companies to increase the awareness of students about different options that they can have for their future career.
Alex is a third year engineer at Sidney Sussex with interests in control, communications and mechanics.
He is responsible for organizing lunch-time talks by a variety of engineering companies and hopes to build on the already broad range of disciplines represented in last year’s presentations, so that students gain a good insight into the possible areas of specialization.
Max is a first year engineer at Peterhouse. He is interested in entrepreneurship and innovative projects.
As presentations officers, together with Alex, they will organize lunchtime talks and events with various big companies. These talks give insight in how the companies are run, what they do and which opportunities they over for graduate students as well as for students who are interested in summer internships.
Richard is a second year engineer at Pembroke with an interest in specialising in Manufacturing engineering.
As social sec he hopes to change the reputation of CUES and engineering as a whole and make it a lot more outgoing and entertaining.
Tafara is a second year PhD student from Magdalene, (experimentally) investigating jet engine intakes at incidence.
During her undergraduate, she served on the CUES committee as Publicity Officer between 2011-2012, however she as been writing for The Cambridge Engineer since 2010.
As Magazine Officer, she intends on continuing the great work which has been conducted on the magazine so far, and find room to make it even better!
Jack is a third year engineer at Homerton specialising in Aerospace Engineering.
As one of the magazine officers, together with Tafara, he aims to continue to create a great magazine while making it as interesting and relevant to the current undergrads as possible.
